At a joint news conference to announce the arrest of 3 people in connection with misusing $8.5 million in public funds linked to City TIRZ, both Mayor John Whitmire & D.A. Kim Ogg said again that public corruption will not be tolerated, while also taking a shot at the former mayor.
"Mayor Whitmire, I want to thank you for your administration's transparency and cooperation" Ogg said during the briefing, "It is in stark contrast to what we've been dealing with the last 7 1/2 years."
D.A. Ogg was also asked about the 2 Venezuelan illegals who have been charged for the murder of 12-year old Jocelyn Nungaray.
"Both individuals have been charged with capital murder, making them eligible for the death penalty" Ogg said, "That's not a decision we make preliminarily, I'm just letting you know that that crime carries the ultimate sanction."
