The Biden FBI has another black eye. After getting caught targeting Catholics and parents at school board meetings, and raiding the home of the former President using highly questionable tactics, the once-proud bureau is now facing even more evidence of hyper-politicization. A new report in the American Thinker reveals memos from 2022 that show the FBI investigated one of its own special agents over things like supporting Donald Trump, opposing the COVID vaccine, and attending a Second Amendment rally. One memo even referred to the agent in question as a "gun nut."
At a time when crime is rampant around the U.S., the border is wide open, and even the FBI director admits we are on high alert for terrorism, the bureau keeps finding time to go after average Americans, or even its own agents, based on political beliefs. "When FBI agents come to your door, you would like to believe that they are honorable, honest people, whose only interest is in fairly enforcing the law," says Mike McDaniel, deputy editor of the American Thinker. "But considering what's happening with the bureau, and with the federal government as a whole these days, you can't afford to believe that anymore...and that's the ultimate problem."
As McDaniel writes, "When institutions like the FBI can't be trusted, can tyranny be far behind?"
The next question is can the FBI be saved, or are politics and corruption too far entrenched in "the swamp?" After all, Donald Trump tried to reform the FBI in his first term by firing James Comey and replacing him with Christopher Wray, but it hasn't done much good. If Trump is reelected, he can and likely will try again. But the key word is try. "Could the current FBI be fixed? Well, I guess anything's possible," says McDaniel. "But, with Democrats already working to completely resist Trump even before he's elected, it's definitely going to be an uphill battle."
