The Supreme Court has issued a major ruling today saying that the over-the-counter abortion pill mifepristone can remain on the market. The court unanimously ruled that the abortion opponents who brought the lawsuit didn't have the legal standing required.
The suit had alleged that the FDA hadn't followed the proper procedures in approving and then later expanding access to the drug. While this ruling won't affect Texas laws, Dr. Joe Pojman with Texas Alliance for Life still has concerns. He said, "We are concerned that this will perhaps encourage out-of-state abortion providers to illegally traffic these very dangerous abortion pills."
He says this ruling is very dangerous for the Texas women who could be exposed to this dangerous drug.
