The 2020 and 2024 elections have a lot in common, but one thing that sets them apart is the amount of political donations that are being made. According to a survey from LendingTree.com, financial contributions to campaigns have dropped 10% from their 2020 levels.

Political consultant Luke Macias says there's a clear reason for this. He said, "Bidenomics is completely crushing the American family. And that's honestly hurting both the left and the right. People have less money in their bank accounts than they've ever had."

Macias says that, surprisingly enough, the Democrats have actually helped Trump overcome this obstacle. He said, "Trump is having record fundraising numbers because of all the lawfare going on. President Trump is coming off the strongest 2-week fundraising period he's ever had."

Macias says that he does expect political donations to pick back up more as we get closer to the election in November.
