According to a recent poll, only 42% of young voters are proud to be Americans, and half say that the United States of America is a dying empire. Thankfully, it's not all over for American patriotism.
Former United States Marine Cole Lyle, who also serves as the Director of Government Relations with Mission Role Call told KTRH, "I think that there are plenty of young people who are willing to raise their right hand and serve, and further than that, just be patriotic young Americans."
Lyle did say, however, that social media and colleges have done a wonderful job of spreading anti-American narratives. He said, "Gen Z I think is the first generation in American history who doesn't feel like they'll have it better than their parents did, and that is a destruction of the American dream."
Lyle says that we need to be encouraging young people to connect with those who have spent time in the military or civil service, or even pursue those careers themselves, to restore a sense of patriotism and pride in America's achievements.
