As President Joe Biden continues to languish at historically low levels in the polls for an incumbent president in a reelection year, he is apparently looking for a boost among a traditional Democrat voting bloc---criminals. A new report in the Federalist details how Biden is using a 2021 executive order that allows federal agencies to work with activist nonprofit groups on get-out-the-vote efforts. In particular, under this order the Federal Bureau of Prisons is partnering with liberal groups like the ACLU and the Sentencing Project, which seeks to educate prisoners about voting and register felons and ex-felons to vote.
Getting even some of these prisoners or felons to the polls would be a boon to Biden, based on a 2019 study out of Florida which found ex-felons are four times more likely to be registered Democrats or party unaffiliated than to be Republicans. That voting bloc could not only help Biden over the finish line, but also help Democrats in House and Senate races around the country.
Of course, any questions or criticisms raised about this government-funded get-out-the-vote effort will be labeled by the left as an attack on voting rights. But Lara Trump, RNC Co-Chair, says this is actually the opposite of election integrity. "It is totally unacceptable, obviously, to have Joe Biden utilizing taxpayer money to keep his party in power," she tells Fox News. "And this is a problem, not just for us as a party, but for us as a country."
"Millions and millions of people currently have a lot of questions about our electoral process," she continues. "People need to understand and believe that we have free, fair, and transparent elections...things like this just go to further the notion that they will not be fair."
