Millions of Texans are hitting the road for the Memorial Day weekend.
AAA Texas is anticipating a major boost in travel, with more than 4% higher travel volume expected compared to last year. Approximately 3.6 million Texans are predicted to travel during the holiday period, marking the highest number of travelers since AAA began monitoring holiday travel in 2000.
At a national level, the total number of Memorial Day travelers is estimated to be 43.8 million. That’s a 4.1% increase from last year and almost matches the record set in 2005, with 44 million travelers.
The airports will be busy as well Bush and Hobby officials expect1.3 million passengers between now and Wednesday of next week.
