Following a traffic stop in Porter this morning, there was an officer-involved shooting that has led to a large police presence on American Yellowwood Place. What was originally a routine traffic stop escalated when a suspect inside the vehicle fired on the Montgomery County Precinct 4 deputy.

The suspect then fled into a nearby subdivision, where law enforcement established a perimeter and located the suspect using drones. Law enforcement then exchanged gunfire with the suspect, resulting in the suspect taking at least one gunshot wound. The suspect was subsequently transported to the hospital for treatment.

No deputies were injured in the shooting. However, there has been a large police presence, with collaboration from multiple agencies. Police are asking the public to avoid the area of the 21100 block of American Yellowwood Place.
