In his first term as mayor of Houston John Whitmire promises that big changes are coming.
On Friday Whitmore said the city will invest billions
"Three billion dollars in the next thirty years," Whitmire said.
The projects will be funded using hotel occupancy tax revenue.
Whitmire's vision includes the entertainment district sprawling three miles in each direction from downtown.
The George R. Brown Convention Center will undergo a renovation to make it larger.
Toyota Center will be prepared for the possible expansion of an NHL hockey team.
Fixing potholes and improving streets is a pet project that Whitmore had made central to his mayoral race.
