18-year-old Marcelo Hernandez was caught on surveillance video smashing the windows of two Houston-area jewelry stores and making off more than half a million dollars in merchandise.
Hernandez is a graduate of the United States Marine Corps.
He was caught robbing the Houston-area David Yurman store in October and making off with more than $380,000 worth of jewelry.
In April he broke into the Helzberg Diamond location at the Houston Premium Outlet Mall in Cypress and got away with $170,000 in jewels.
When arrested Thursday Hernandez had half-a-million-dollar worth of jewelry in his car as well as $11,000 in cash and multiple handguns.
