Are the basics like reading, writing, and math still being taught in schools? Despite overwhelming opposition, critical race theory and DEI still manage to sneak into children's curriculums.

Even here in Texas, where we have been very focused on teaching kids the academic basics, woke ideology still somehow manages to creep in, and some people are wondering if we will ever be able to do away with it and keep our children safe from the woke mind virus.

The Texas Public Policy Foundation's Sherry Sylvester told KTRH there's a reason woke ideology keeps popping up in Texas schools. She said, 'It's down in little crooks and crannies. It's at every level within the institutions, and it will take us a long time to root it out.'

Sylvester says parents need to be vigilant here and keep a close eye on all levels of their children's education. She says from language arts to math, parents need to be asking their kids what they're learning and what they're reading.

She also noted that DEI and CRT are billion-dollar industries, which means one law isn't going to fix things overnight. This is going to be a long fight.
