The Atlantic hurricane season begins on June 1st, and we are starting to get the forecasts rolling in.

Colorado State University researchers are calling for an above-average season this year, with 23 named storms, 11 hurricanes, with five becoming major hurricanes.

Last year CSU’s forecast predicted above-average activity; 2023 produced 20 named storms, 7 hurricanes and 3 major hurricanes.

Last week, AccuWeather's forecast called for as many as 25 named storms, upwards of 12 hurricanes, and seven strong hurricanes. It also predicted that upwards of six hurricanes could directly hit the United States.
