As if the auto industry didn't have enough problems to deal with, President Biden is now preparing to enact more regulations against gas-powered cars. This is, of course, part of Biden's push to force the entire auto industry to become electric, which they claim will help protect the environment, but as it turns out, the opposite might be true.
Fox's Dana Perino on The Five pointed out that just building an electric car is incredibly harmful to the environment. She said, "When President Biden drove that electric Ford F-150, Bloomberg sourced the materials for it. They all went back to the Amazon." She says the factory that produces the batteries for that model of electric car poisoned an entire village in the Amazon.
Another problem with electric vehicles is the lack of demand. Automakers aren't particularly excited to manufacture electric cars because they end up just sitting on the lots unwanted. Even if there was demand, in order to meet it, Perino says that America would have to turn to our adversaries like China to get enough resources to manufacture these electric vehicles.
Perino says that at the end of the day, the switch to EVs should be a decision that the free market makes for itself.
