The State of Texas has until later today to respond to the US Supreme Court after a ruling last week temporarily blocked the new state law making illegal immigration a crime.

The order signed by Justice Samuel Alito blocked Texas from enacting the law until March 13th, giving the state until this evening to respond to the Justice Department’s request asking to pause the law from going into effect.

Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick took issue with the ruling during an appearance on Fox and Friends this morning.

:"They said Texas couldn't prove that immigration and invasion are connected because invasion is by an armed hostile group. Well let me tell you what; the cartels are weaponized, and they're organized." Patrick said. "Ask the family of Laken Riley if they think the issue of invasion is a serious issue."

Riley is the Georgia nursing student murdered last month. An illegal alien, Jose Ibarra, has been charged in the case.
