ERCOT Holds Another Board Of Directors Meeting

Thankfully, there were no increases to our bill that were announced. But at the latest ERCOT Board of Directors meeting, CEO Pablo Vegas praised conservation efforts across the state during this year's winter storm.

"It was very significant, and had a very significant benefit to the grid" Vegas said, "That conservation is becoming a really visible and important part during these extreme weather events."

There was also the topic of the Democrats calling on Texas to connect the grid with the rest of the country, which Vegas said may not make sense economically for the state.

"We are looking at that, and looking to learn from what we can gain" added Vargas, who also pointed out the Texas grid is already interconnected, more than most people realize.

The ERCOT Board of Directors meeting lasted under hour, leaving a lot of unanswered questions for some energy experts.

"It was a short meeting" said Doug Lewin, author of the Texas Power and Energy Newsletter, "They only meet 6 times a year, and they get paid $160,000 a year. I think they ought to take a little more than an hour, on the grid that supports the 8th largest economy in the world."

The next ERCOT meeting is scheduled for April 23rd.
