President Joe Biden wasted no time in blaming Russian President Vladimir Putin for the death of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny. But as Biden blasts Putin as a tyrant who takes political prisoners and uses the government to punish his critics and opponents, some observers can't help but notice the hypocrisy. Sean Davis, CEO of The Federalist, sums it up as "Your Government Needs You Angry At Foreign Tyrants So You Won't Notice The Ones Ruling You."
While Biden's actions aren't as overt or violent as Putin's, his administration is currently trying to jail his chief political opponent Donald Trump, seeking out Trump supporters for selective prosecution over the January 6, 2021 Capitol breach, and working with big tech platforms to censor or silence critics. "This is the textbook definition of gaslighting, that's what you're seeing is look at this, what we tell you to look at, and don't look at that," says Raven Harrison, political strategist and self-described 'Conservative Warrior.'
Harrison tells KTRH this is another page from the political playbook, just in time for an election year. "Russia is a typical whipping boy for Democrats---this entire thing against Trump started as a Russian hoax---that's where Democrats like to go when they're down---Russia, Russia, Russia," she says. "Meanwhile, they protect (Ukrainian President) Zelensky, who has canceled elections, jailed journalists, crowned himself dictator, and squandered billions of dollars in American resources."
Ultimately, Harrison believes the anti-Russian outrage is a campaign tactic by Biden. "They want to distract you about Russia while the whole world is on fire," she says. "We're in two-and-a-half wars, we're funding both sides, inflation is still crippling, 401(k)s are depleted, the border is wide open."
"But I think Americans are waking up to it, and it won't work."
