Concerns Are Being Raised About A VA Burial Plan

In what is being called a 'slap in the face' of our U.S. veterans, a new VA rule that has gone in effect could prevent veterans from being buried with their spouses.

"The National Cemetery Administration would provide either an urn, or a commemorative plaque that a family could have that would commemorate the military service of a veteran" said David Swantek, Deputy Director of Memorial Affairs for the Minnesota Department of Veterans Affairs.

But while the urn and plaque are nice, if a family selects one, they lose the right to be interred with their spouse. So for example, if a wife loses her husband who is a veteran and she opts to take an urn or a plaque, she won't be able to be buried together with her loved one.

"Veterans that aren't clearly understanding the program may get hoodwinked later on" said military attorney, Thomas Setser, "And I think that's where the VA is not thinking through the program, not thinking through their own rules."

They both said that Congress needs to change the rule. In the meantime, the VA has received a ton of backlash.

"It's a typical government program, not really thinking through all the consequences of their actions" Setser told KTRH, "It probably sounds good on paper, and it may even save the government money."
In the meantime, when you all the money our government gives out to illegals and Ukraine, shouldn't our veterans be worth something?
