It's a tale as old as time; big businesses using the government to squash their competition. This time, fantasy sports are in the hot seat. Sports betting juggernauts FanDuel and DraftKings lead a lawsuit in Wyoming that claimed wagering on fantasy football was illegal due to it being "unregulated gambling."
KTRH spoke with SportsTalk 790 host Chris Gordy, who says that this is something people have been doing for 30 years, and it's never been an issue.
"This isn't something they (gambling commissions) shouldn't be involved in,"
Gordy says. Rather than an actual moral or legal concern about wagering on fantasy sports, this is more likely just online betting companies trying to hold onto their profits by stomping out the competition.
