Astros General Manager Dana Brown said last season that making Jose Altuve an 'Astro for life' was a top priority for the front office. Now, Altuve is officially an Astro for life.
The 33-year-old star signed a five-year, $125 million contract extension, keeping him in Houston until he is 39 years old.
Included in the deal is a $15 million signing bonus. The contract is front loaded, paying him $30 million a year from 2025 to 2027, then $10 million a year for 2028 and 2029.
Altuve ranks second all-time in MLB postseason home runs. He is third on the Astros all-time hitting list.
