A recent survey of 800 hiring managers by intelligent.com showed that 38% of these hiring managers said that they would not hire recent college graduates and that some 58% of them thought these grads are "simply unprepared for the workforce".
Trevor Houston, Host of the "Who Ya Know Show" thinks that part of the disconnect are "expectations". Many of the grads are unrealistic in their expectations for what an entry-level job looks like, and pays.
COIVD lockdowns made it more difficult for these young people to develop the social and interpersonal skills required to be successful in the work world.
A number of the hiring managers responding said that some recent graduate job candidates had brought their parents to job interviews. Seemingly simple things like dressing professionally and avoiding inappropriate levels of informality could help some of these candidates get hired..
