At a joint news conference, Mayor John Whitmire and HPD Chief Troy Finner, announced that arrests have been made in a pair of road rage shootings.
The incidents occurred at 7001 West Gulf Bank Rd. on Jan. 20 and in the 7600 block of Southwest Freeway (South U.S. Highway 59) on Jan. 26.
"This is exactly what I committed to during the campaign" Whitmire said, "It was a collaboration, and it's going to make our road ways safer."
But there is still work to be done. Houston Police announced it's 'Safe Roadways' initiative to eliminate road rage, and aggressive driving.
"Two senseless murders on our highways" Finner said, "We're not going to sit by and do nothing about it, we're going to take it to them."
HPD plans to collaborate with other Houston area law enforcement agencies including the Harris County Sherriff's Office, Harris County Precincts 1-8, and the Texas DPS.
