Houston ISD Superintendent Mike Miles says not all of the district's schools should have been closed during last week's cold spell.
In a news conference midweek, Miles said only three schools in the district needed to close. Some of the schools that reopened on Wednesday had cold classrooms and leaky pipes.
Miles is sorting out whether students will have to make up the day of classes they missed on Monday.
He says he'll rely on the Texas Education Agency's standards for instructional hours.
This weekend's cold snap isn't expected to affect classrooms.
