Gas Prices Down as Everybody Heads for the Road

The Thanksgiving travel season officially began last Friday, and this year is expected to be one of the busiest ever.

More than 55,000,000 Americans will travel 50 miles or more for Thanksgiving this year. That's according to a Triple-A projection.

It's an increase of a little more than 2% from last year and the third-highest forecast for the holiday since Triple-A began tracking it in 2000.

Most will drive to their destinations, nearly two-percent more compared to 2022. And 4.7 million travelers will fly, an increase of more than six-and-a-half percent compared to last Thanksgiving.

The Triple-A Texas Weekend Gas Watch says the statewide average gas price in Texas is $2.82 a gallon for regular unleaded, is down four-cents from a week ago, and 26-cents less than a year ago.

The national average is$3.34.
