President Joe Biden is struggling in his re-election bid, with terrible poll numbers and calls by some Democrats to replace him on the 2024 ticket. But two powerful forces trying are trying to drag Biden over the finish line next year---Big Money and Big Tech. A new report says left-wing billionaire and mega-Democrat donor George Soros is helping to fund an army of young TikTok influencers to promote Biden and liberal policies. The group Gen Z for Change boasts hundreds of activists and "creators" who support left-wing causes like abolishing immigration enforcement, defunding police, ending cash bail, and banning voter ID laws.
This marriage of money and tech is all part of the left's political machine, according to Luke Macias, political consultant and podcast host. "Not only are Democrat billionaires funding a tremendous amount of influence digitally, they also have Big Tech willing to work with them," Macias tells KTRH. "That combination is what helped carry Joe Biden across the finish line in 2020, and it's what we (conservatives) need to shut down this election cycle."
Biden's TikTok army may make the gaffe-prone, elderly president appear somewhat cool to young radicals, but it could also backfire in his efforts to appeal to independent voters. "Joe Biden always tried to play to the middle, bragging he's not the Bernie Sanders-type of guy," says Macias. "But when you take all of these socialist, Marxist young people on TikTok and have them now be the messengers for Joe Biden, it just shows how radical he really is."
Regardless of whether Team Biden's Big Tech campaign works, Macias believes Republicans need to counter it. "Twitter (now X) has been a big help to conservatives," he says. "Elon Musk has definitely helped give us at least one platform that is willing to be a free speech platform, so that is one thing (conservatives) have in their tool box going into this election cycle."
"Now we have to build up and increase infrastructure, so that we can use the platforms out there (like Twitter) that are willing to let conservatives speak, and speak loudly."
