Government data shows a record 233,000 illegal border crossings last month, yet Dems on Capitol Hill continue to gas light the situation.
"The last administration certainly gutted the immigration systems for four years. That's what they did. And you have Speaker McCarthy and Republicans in Congress who continuously, continuously take steps to undermine what is currently happening," said White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre last week.
August numbers were the highest since Biden replaced pandemic policies with new carrot-and-stick measures in May.
The White House claims some agreement was reached with Mexico over the weekend. But here's Biden in his own words last week.
"We're significantly expanding legal pathways for entry so businesses can get the workers that they need and families don't have to wait a decade to be together. I'm also directing my team to make historic increases in refugees admitted from Latin America," he told the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
The Federalist's Mollie Hemingway told Fox this was Biden's plan all along.
"It was a real admission that he is intentionally opening this border. I know people don't like to say it's an open border, but after 7.2 million, you can say it's an open border. And it's his policies," she said.
Biden campaigned on opening the border, but Texas GOP congressional candidate Mayra Flores told Fox what is happening is outright wrong.
"It's a huge slap in the face on migrants like myself who came here to the United States legally. So many people right now are waiting in line to come here to the United States legally, but they have to wait in line," said Flores.
