Group Offers Texas School Districts Alternative to TASB

A North Texas group is offering an alternative state school board association, saying districts are "tired of the poor service, low return on investment and the far-left politics masquerading as so-called ‘model policies’ and ‘legal guidance.'"

It comes just months after Southlake Carroll ISD left the Texas Association of School Boards.

"TASB took eight months to leave the National School Boards Association after that association called parents 'terrorists.' TASB themselves have put out guidance recommending boys should be allowed in girls' bathrooms," says Hava Armstrong, executive director of Texans for Excellence in Education.

She says parents and taxpayers deserve more, and tired of local trustees rubber stamping those efforts.

"They (TASB) are telling trustees that once they are elected, they are accountable to the district rather than to the voters," says Armstrong. "We at TEE take the opposite approach. They are elected by the people and they are held accountable by the people as well."

"We would not be using taxpayer money to lobby in Austin. We have policies that turn the classrooms politically neutral, takes politics out of the classroom and focuses on the education of our children."

TEE already offers group insurance, electric and purchasing co-ops and TEA-approved board training.
