Gov. Greg Abbott & Lt Governor Dan Patrick Feuding Over Property Tax Relief

It seems like we have a lot of feuding going on right now in the state of Texas. The RINO's and the Democrats are trying to take down Attorney General Ken Paxton, and now you have the top 2 Republicans in Texas going at it, Governor Greg Abbott and Lt. Governor Dan Patrick.

"This is the first time that I can recall, that the Governor and Lt. Governor, have publicly disagreed since they've been in office" said longtime Texas political strategist, Matt Mackowiak, "I'm sure they've had frank discussions privately, but they have not disagreed publicly."

Governor Abbott is backing the Texas House Bill that calls for property tax compression, while Lt. Governor Patrick is pushing the Senate's plan to increase the homestead exemption.

The feud escalated to a new level, when Patrick publicly challenged Abbott to a debate over the issue.

"I don't think a public debate will happen" Mackowiak told KTRH, "And I don't think it will necessarily matter because it's really not about moving public opinion, it's really about the leaders coming together, and then about the two legislative bodies passing some type of compromise. They know they have to do this, and they know that the governor will continue to call special sessions."

And he points out, they need to get it done quickly, if they want to get it on the November ballot.
