Judge Grants Injunction in Legal Battle Over Texas History

The latest battle to keep wokeness out of Texas public schools is pushed to the fall.

Billionaire, philanthropist and museum owner J.P. Bryan Jr. is suing to keep his role as executive director of Texas State Historical Association.  A Galveston judge on Tuesday granted an injunction preventing Bryan from being removed, for now.

"This is all about me somehow inhibiting them from getting out their particular historical narrative, which was never my intention. Never has been. I want to hear what the other side has to say," says Bryan.

Bryan says he's trying to prevent those in academia from rewriting Texas history.

"I think they are trying to ruin our traditional concepts of history. I have my opinion about our history too. And I want my chance at the table to disagree with them."

"We publish the almanac. We publish the handbook of Texas, which if you're a researcher at all, you're bound to use it. We sponsor Texas history day for kids. We control the written narrative."

Bryan's next court date is in September.
