When Did We All Become So Self-Obsessed?

As we used to say when the pledge of allegiance was still allowed, "one nation under God". Now? America is one nation under -self.

"Things started going downhill around the time that the smartphone came to be" said Shannon Thornton, a Texas based professional counselor, "We were able to entertain ourselves, and just kind of put our heads down into our phones, take our own pictures. Like anything in culture that is not good for us, I think that's kind of where it started."

Which is where we are at now, in the midst of a culture war that writer Brian Parsons described in American Thinker as, hell itself.

Dave Welch with the Texas Pastors Council tells KTRH, he's not surprised.

"We have a weak nation, because we have weak churches, and we have weak churches because we have weak homes, and we have weak homes because we have weak fathers", he said, "As you tear down the foundations from the bottom up, which is what's happened in our generation especially, that weakness will eventually collapse and we're really close to that."

The bottom line is, our constitution was not written to be apart from God, and we were not created for that either, just like we were not created to be selfish.

"He is not a God of confusion, or of chaos" Shannon Thornton told KTRH, "And the great commandment has nothing to do with loving yourself, and so we're doing in this world everything completely opposite of what we are commanded to do, and that's where the chaos is coming from."

Both said our nation needs to get back to the basics.
