Houston Native Cliff Branch Enter HoF

The late Cliff Branch will officially become a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame at noon today.

Branch, who graduated from Houston's Worthing High, played 14 seasons in the NFL with the Raiders, winning three Super Bowls.

Branch attended the University of Colorado Boulder where he was also a sprinter on the track team. He was picked by the Raiders in the fourth round of the 1972 NFL Draft.

Among his many legendary plays was a 99 yard touchdown catch thrown by Jim Plunkett in 1983.

Branch finished his career with 501 receptions, 8,685 yards and 67 touchdowns.

Branch died in 2019.
