Has The U.S. Become Two Divided Countries Within One Nation?

It's not breaking news that our nation is divided. Some say we haven't had a rift like this since the Civil War, and there are even some who believe we are already two separate countries within one nation.

"We really have become two different countries, and the route that these two countries are taking are not compatible" said Steve McCann, writer for American Thinker, "There has to be a winner and a loser at this point, as more than half of the country pretty much has decided that American democracy really is at the risk of extinction."

This is not something that happened overnight, but instead it's the result of 30 to 40 years of opposing political paths. And now, it feels like something has to give. A winner and a loser, as McCann points out.

"I'm not advocating violence, and I'm not advocating taking up arms like others have" McCann told KTRH, "But what can be done is to get serious. There's a lot more of us then there are of them, and everyone has to get together and understand the consequences. If not, then the other side is going to win, and there's no recourse."

What about the role of social media in this fight for our nation?

"It allowed people access to talking to a lot of other people, and informing them of their craziness and their ideological ideas" noted McCann, "So social media was probably the final catalyst that brought us to this point."
