The head of the American Petroleum Institute says the Biden administration is "purposefully misusing facts" when it comes to oil leases, while at the same time it pushes electric vehicles.
Mike Sommers told Fox & Friends this idea oil companies should just drill more is ludicrous.
"There are over 100,000 active federal leases that are being developed. This 9,000 statistic is phony. They don't really know how the process works."
"When you get a lease, you have to go through a whole process of making sure that first of all there is oil and gas on the lease, and then you have to get more federal permits to develop it," he says.
Sommers says the Biden White House has been punishing U.S. energy producers since day one.
"This is all about red tape. This is not about getting American energy development going again."
Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg this week suggested everyone should buy electric.
"We announced a $5 billion investment to build out a nationwide electric vehicle charging network, so that people from rural to suburban to urban communities can all benefit from the gas savings from driving an EV."
"Where is the electricity going to come from to reach those charging stations? They're going to require vast amounts of electricity."
Korth argues we need to build more fossil fuel plants just to power Biden's electric grid.
"I don't think they really care whether or not yours and my electricity prices are doubled in ten years. As long as they meet their climate goals, I think they believe it's worth the price regardless."
