Harris County residents are being asked to mask back up again. Judge Lina Hidalgo told reporters Thursday not wearing masks have been normalized since the COVID vaccine was rolled out. She wants people to cover their faces because of rising cases, specifically the Delta variant.
Hidalgo says those who are inoculated could still spread the virus to someone else. She's encouraging people to be vigilant regarding the virus and use caution.
Hidalgo blames misinformation for causing cases to rise in the region while calling those who have gotten the shot "patriotic." Texas Governor Greg Abbott has said he will not mandate masks.
