Help birds with your own certified wildlife habitat

I’ll be you didn’t know that, according to studies by Cornell University (one of the greatest AgriLife sciences universities along with Texas A&M), North America has lost over 3 billion birds since 1970 due to habitat loss. That means nearly 25% of the continent’s birds have disappeared in the last 50 years. Ouch!!!

But you and I can help if we all do our part.

How? Create a wildlife-friendly habitat in your yard and get it certified by the National Wildlife Federation. It’s is easier than you might think, especially with help from the six Houston-area Wild Birds Unlimited locations.

As part of WBU’s ongoing mission to bring people and nature together, the stores are champions of the NWF’s Certified Wildlife Habitat program. So, they can help turn your yard, balcony container garden or work landscape into an environment that attracts birds, butterflies, and other neighborhood wildlife.

It’s fun, easy, and can really help rebuild bird populations.

Watch the video below to learn about certifying your yard, then visit one of the six local WBU stores to get started.
