Sugar Land Home & Garden Show is this Saturday

Seems like months since I’ve been that “pair of eyes” you can rely on to identify problems with your plants, weeds, insects or horticultural diseases.

This Saturday will bring your first chance of 2018, if you’ll come see me at the Sugar Land Home and Garden Show at the Stafford Center. It’s at the corner of Murphy and Cash Roads, just south of U.S. 59 and west of Beltway 8.

We will be broadcasting GardenLine live from the show 6-10 a.m. Now, the doors don’t open until 9, but you’ll have at least one hour to see how we do our show on the road. Then, at 10 a.m. you and I can start talking one-on-one, and I can take a look at samples of your problems.

From 10:30-11:30, I’ll be hosting a seminar on horticultural recovery from our twin freezes this month.  Then, 11:30-2:30, I’ll be back at the KTRH promotions table when I can examine examples of your gardening issues, or provide some face-to-face advice.

While there, you can pick up a copy of my book, “Texas Tough Gardening.”  It includes several sections that will help with freeze recovery … from the chapter on soils and soil remediation, to the one named Texas Tough Citrus, to a list of plants that always bounce back from freezes in this area.

And of course the book will be cheaper at this show than at almost any other location, especially when you buy two or more copies.  They retail for $15 dollars each, but only $25 for two. If you buy two – maybe an extra for a friend, neighbor or family member who needs some gardening help - you will also get a four- or seven-pound jug of some very specific plant food.

I’ve encouraged a few or our advertising partners to load us up with various fertilizers - from those for roses and azaleas, to types for pansies and plumeria.  Not to mention some very special fertilizers for citrus and other fruit trees. So, if you buy two or more copies, you’ll wind up with around $45-$50 worth of products for only $25.

Be warned, by the way, that this will be your last chance to snag my book at a Sugar Land Home and Garden Show. It will likely be completely sold out by May.

Here’s my show schedule in a nutshell:

  • 6-10 a.m. - Live GardenLine broadcast
  • 9 a.m. - Doors open
  • 10-10:30 a.m.  - Ask your question and get signed books
  • 10:30–11:30 a.m.  Freeze-recovery seminar on main stage
  • 11:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.   Back at KTRH table; let me be that pair of eyes and get my book

The Sugar Land Home and Garden Show extends to Sunday, too. But I will be back in the KTRH studio.

If you were not one of our fortunate Facebook fans who earned free passes to the show, you can get discounted tickets at
