Warren’s Southern Gardens

I did a Friday Profile on Warren’s Southern Gardens in February 2019, but I am heading back there for a GardenLine appearance on Saturday, so I thought I’d re-publish it. But since the Kingwood Garden Center was folded into the Warren’s umbrella a couple of weeks ago, I now have a reason to update the article a bit. And I can’t wait to see all the positive changes they make at their new Kingwood location.

By the way, during my visit I’ll be giving away bags of Warren’s proprietary Heirloom Soils of Texas, which include compost and mulch. I’ll also have drawings for some two-pound jars of Nelson Plant Foods. Remember, you don’t have to be present to win, but you gotta register while I’m there between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. They’re easy to get to at 1675 Northpark Drive, just a mile east of U.S. 59.

Brimming with ornamental plants, trees, shrubs, water features, pottery, and garden statuary and bursting with colorful flowers, Warren's Southern Gardens is more than a garden center. It is a beautiful oasis for garden enthusiasts and novices alike. I used to call it the Kingwood area’s Go-To Garden Center for GardenLine listeners, but now that they own and operate the Kingwood Garden Center, I can now say that they’ve got the northern and southern parts of Kingwood covered. As for the original Warren’s, it is definitely one of those nurseries that’s worth the trip, no matter where you’re coming from.

At Warren’s their motto is, "We have deep roots, come grow with us!" It all started with Bernice and Dean Warren (above), but it’s such a great independent nursery because their entire enthusiastic team is dedicated to providing great customer service, expert advice and a vast selection of the highest quality plants and flowers available. The knowledgeable staff can help you transform your garden and outdoor living areas and help you choose the best plants for your lifestyle and level of gardening skill.

And it’s much more than plants and plant people. Warren's Southern Gardens has everything you need to make your garden succeed, from beautiful pottery and garden accessories to soil and seeds.

If your family enjoys hosting outdoor parties, or you’d like to create a solitary space for enjoying your morning coffee, the creative, talented team at Warren’s can help you transform your outdoor space with stunning containers of blooms and foliage. Learn how to create spectacular container plantings with seasonal flowers and plants, and enhance your home with beautiful and unique plant and pottery combinations. Decorative urns and pottery placed within the garden in varying heights will add flair and color to beds and borders. Well-placed containers can also be used to hide awkward spaces, and those are just some of the hidden treasures beyond plants you’ll find at Warren’s.

Plus, Warren’s many services include core aeration and compost top-dressing for your lawn. Just call the nursery for info.

Finally, if you live in or near the Kingwood area, Warren's Southern Gardens is excited to introduce their new Lawn Care Club! Sign up for free by emailing lawncare@warrens.us, and you’ll receive monthly expert advice from the Warren's team of top professionals.
