PA is Latest Location Baffled by Mystery Booms

Authorities in Pennsylvania are at their wit's end over a series of  mystery booms that have plagued parts of the state for weeks and now  hope that the FBI can help provide some answers. According to a report from Philadelphia, the "explosion-like sounds" have been reported by a  striking number of witnesses, believed to number in the hundreds. The  case has also become something of a social media sensation in the area  as residents attempt to decipher what is causing all this commotion.

An array of possible sources for the booms have been suggested,  including prosaic theories like gunfire or sonic booms and more exotic  ideas like space junk falling to the Earth or the construction of a  clandestine underground tunnel. As is often the case with incidents  involving unexplained sounds, the booms are particularly maddening  because no one can quite put their finger on exactly what they're  experiencing. "It actually rumbles the ground like an earthquake would  happen but with a loud boom," was one attempt to describe the odd  events.

It would seem that law enforcement is as baffled by the booms as the  residents reporting them. One police department posted on Facebook over a  month ago that they were aware of the odd sounds,  but were uncertain where they were coming from nor what could be  causing them. And, weeks later, the mystery persists with state  authorities and even the FBI being called in to investigate the case.

More on this story, including how Pennsylvania is just the latest in a litany of locations to be struck by the mystery boom phenomenon at the Coast to Coast AM website.
