Former Harris County DA Kim Ogg is not holding back when it comes to her successor, Sean Teare, dropping corruption charges against former Harris County Public Health Director Barbie Robinson.
Ogg, in an interview with ABC 13, said, ""I think what we're seeing is real quid pro quo status. It's an absolute cover-up."
The counts against Robinson were dropped on Friday. She had been charged with multiple corruption-related felonies, including misuse of official information, a third-degree felony; tampering with a governmental record, a second-degree felony; and two counts of fraudulent securing of document execution, a first-degree felony.
Teare's office said, "After an exhaustive review of the evidence concluded by career prosecutors, the HCDAO has determined that the State cannot prove any of the charged offenses beyond a reasonable doubt and that pursuing this case is not in the interests of justice."
That did not sit well with Ogg.
"A grand jury felt there was sufficient evidence. The prosecutors who filed the cases thought there was sufficient evidence, and I can tell you I've seen the evidence. It's communications between IBM executives and Barbie Robinson offering both she and her husband extra employment during the period when the contract was not released and not yet given," Ogg said.
Ogg has been at odds with Harris County leadership for years, dating back to charges against thee of County Judge Lina Hidalgo's top staffers for rigging a COVID contract bid.
