Houston robber grabs purse, victim grabs his pants

Houston police need the public's help in identifying a robbery suspect who ambushed a woman for her purse in a Southwest Houston office building.

Investigators believe the woman may have been observed withdrawing a large amount of cash from a bank on Highway 6 in the Mission Bend area, then followed as she drove nearly 12 miles to 6200 Savoy Drive.

She was waiting for an elevator around noon Jan. 19 when the suspect ambushed her. During a struggle over her purse, the woman grabbed the suspect's pants and partially pulled them down. The thief also lost a shoe but picked it up before running out the door.

The victim chased the suspect outside, but he jumped into a waiting black Dodge Charger and sped away. Police say a blue Chevrolet Malibu might have also followed the woman.

The suspect is a black male, 20-25 years old, 5’11" to 6 feet tall, and 150 pounds. He was wearing a gray Nike hoodie and gray pants.

Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to contact Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS or submit an online tip at www.crime-stoppers.org. A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered.
