President Trump Plays Coy on Future Presidential Plans

Former President Donald Trump appeared Saturday night at the Montgomery County Fairgrounds near Conroe to rally supporters.

“Hello, Texas, it’s great to be back,” he opened to a joyous crowd.

Governor Greg Abbott, Lt. Governor Dan Patrick, Ag Commissioner Sid Miller and Attorney General Ken Paxton were among the speakers before Trump took the stage. Patrick said he didn’t know if 45 wanted to be 47 but knows the country would be eager to lift Trump again, a possibility Trump addressed.

“This is the year we are going to take back the House, we’re going to take back the Senate, we’re going to take back America,” he told supporters. “If I run and if I win, we will treat those people from January 6 fairly,” Trump said in reference to defendants jailed and charged for their actions at the U.S. Capitol as Congress certified the electoral votes. Trump said if pardons were required he would pardon them.

“From Houston to Austin,” Trump said, “From Dallas to El Paso, from the Red River to the Rio Grande, the people of Texas live and breathe the fierce spirit of independence, and the Lone Star State has always embraced the cause of American freedom like no one else or like no place else.”
