Yikes! The Cost of Gas is Skyrocketing!

The Triple-A Texas Weekend Gas Watch says the statewide average gas price in Texas is $3.08 a gallon for regular unleaded. That price is up three-cents from a week ago, and is $1.28 higher than a year ago.

The national average is $3.42.

A slight increase in demand has contributed to price increases, while higher crude prices continue to put upward market pressure on the pump price.

The average price at the pump in Houston is $3.08.

For comparison, the last time the national average was this high in November was in 2012, when the Arab Spring's destabilization of the Middle East was fueling increases, as consumers forked over $3.52 a gallon.
