Gov. Abbott Bans COVID Vaccine Mandates in Texas

Gov. Greg Abbott issued an executive order Monday saying "no entity" could require employees or consumers to get the COVID jab.

It goes into effect immediately.

Abbott vows he's pro-vaccine and believes it's the best defense against COVID but wants it to be voluntary and "never forced."

The governor is also asking the Texas Legislature to pass a law banning vaccine mandates.

Multiple Texas hospitals, including Houston Methodist, fired workers for not getting the shot.

Dallas-based Southwest Airlines is also in a fight with its pilots union over vaccine requirements.
