Texas House Unveils Draft Map, Senate Hears Public Feedback

The Texas House finally unveils its redistricting map.

Initial reports said the map would pit Republicans Jacey Jetton of Richmond against Wharton's Phil Stephenson, though Jetton later called it a "misunderstanding."

Hearings on the House version should start in the coming days.

The Texas Senate, meanwhile, heard from several Magnolia residents Thursday, unhappy the maps would split their community.

“My neighbors and I strongly urge you to reconsider dividing our small, rural community of like-minded citizens into Harris County,” said one woman.

Another argued it would rob them of their voting voice.

Both chambers have until October 20th to approve the new maps.
