Pro Life Legislation: 3 Critical Bills Pass In The Texas Senate

In a historic day for the pro-life movement, and the state of Texas, 6 anti-abortion bills were passed in the Texas senate.

"Texas is a pro-life state and I think we walked the walk" state senator Charles Perry told KTRH. "We talk a lot about doing things for the unborn, and yesterday was a fundamental foundational shift. It couldn't have been a better day."

The senate approved SB 8, which would ban all abortions once a fetal heartbeat can be detected, normally at around six weeks into the pregnancy. And led by senator Perry, they also passed SB 9, which is a 'trigger bill', which would basically most abortions in Texas -if- the Supreme Court overturns Roe vs. Wade, which some say could happen either during this session, or next.

Dr. Joe Pojman of the Texas Alliance For Life also told KTRH it truly was a historic day for Texas. "We have not seen a day like this to my memory, and I have been working in the Texas legislature on the life issue for more than 3 decades."

The measures will now head to the Texas House for approval, where they are expected to pass, before moving on to Governor Greg Abbott to sign in to law.

Charles Perry told KTRH he is happy to see Texas out in front on such an important issue.

"It's how we turn our nations conscience back from the unconscionable. Texas carries a big stick and we feel really good. Texas will lead the way."
