Covid Vaccine: It Was Ready In January

As 2020 finally comes to close, there is optimism for the new year, and specifically for the covid vaccine which is now in phase 1B here in Houston. Great news with most experts confident that the majority of the population will be able to receive a shot by the spring. But what if we knew that the vaccine was actually ready in the beginning? Well according to reports that is true. The Moderna vaccine was ready to go back in mid-January! when things were still normal! But due to FDA regulations, we had to wait. Healthcare executive and former White House speech writer Michael Johns told KTRH the real blame belongs with "China, even if we were looking to have made this vaccine available more quickly, the most obvious obstacle was China's refusal to allow the CDC and the W.H.O. into Wuhan." And so when we think of the outrage, and the fact that hundreds of thousands of lives might have been saved by the vaccine, Johns says "It's very difficult when you have over 300,000 people to jump up and down with enthusiasm over the success of the vaccine." But at least the vaccine is finally becoming available.
