Texas Lawmakers looking at a Pot Full of Marijuana Laws

Nearly two dozen cannabis related bills are proposed for the upcoming Texas legislative session. Director of Texans for Responsible Marijuana Policy. Heather Fazio says many of these bills have support from both sides of the aisle, and feels good about some of them. "Representative Moody's House Bill 447 in particular, which would legalize marijuana for adult use is going to have a meaningful conversation for the first time in this session. "

She continues, "We're glad to see Representative Toth ( R - The Woodlands) introduce House Bill 99 for Sensible Marijuana Reform."

"There are proposals that would reduce penalties for low-level marijuana possession. This is something we have seen common ground on with Republicans and Democrats alike."

During the last legislative session, House Bill 63 which decriminalized small amount possession, passed through the house, but didn’t go any further as Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick declared the bill “dead in the Texas Senate.”
