H.E.B. joins with Food Bank and City of Houston to feed families

H.E.B. management decided to cancel this year's Thanksgiving Day Parade over covid-19 concerns but managed to convert a negative into a positive. Working with the City of Houston and the Houston Food Bank, they took the parade funds and used the money to pay for Thanksgiving dinners for 5,000 Houston area families. The meals were given out at NRG stadium. The meals included turkey, ham and all the traditional Thanksgiving trimmings. Mayor Sylvester Turner was present at the event and said Houstonians did not need a parade this year, they needed help, like the dinners H.E.B. donated.
