Democrats Kick Two Green Party Candidates Off November Ballot

A Travis County judge is temporarily blocking two Texas Green Party candidates from appearing on the November ballot.

The judge issued a 14-day TRO on Wednesday to keep Senate candidate David Collins and Congressional candidate Tom Wakely off the ballot.

Collins was up against Democratic Senate candidate MJ Hegar, and Wakely was running against Wendy Davis for the 21st District.

Two Democratic organizations argued both Green Party candidates failed to pay a filing fee, as required by law. The judge set a hearing for August 26th, next Wednesday, later than the deadline for putting candidates on the ballot.
