Unemployed Have to Prove Job Searches

Texans collecting unemployment benefits will soon be required to prove they're actually looking for work.

As of July 6th, the Texas Workforce Commission will reinstate the work-search requirement.

People on unemployment will have to show they made at least three job searches a week.

Nearly two-and-a-half-million Texans have filed unemployment claims since mid-March, about as many as are expected in four years.

The Texas unemployment rate reached nearly 13-percent in April.
