Will President Trump Get to Nominate a Third Supreme Court Justice?

The Supreme Court is just a few weeks away from the end of its historic term. But there are already questions about whether any of the justices are ready to step down.

Will President Trump get to name a third Supreme Court justice? If he does, it's not likely to happen before November. None of the justices have indicated they'll retire, although conservatives are hoping either of the two reliably liberal justices Ruth Bader Ginsburg and Stephen Breyer will retire. Jim Granato is a political science professor at the University of Houston.

“The issue for Republicans [has been] to try and rebalance what was happening and make the court more ‘middle of the road’ or ‘right of center’”, Granato said.

Granato says one of the biggest legacies of any president is how many justices they appoint to the high court because their decisions (which tend to be ideological aligned with that president) last for years and even decades.
